Cryosurgery: Tuesday 15:30 - 17:00

Dr Wong treats warts & other skin problems by freezing with liquid nitrogen. All appointments are for 5 minutes.
Ante-natal and Post-natal Checks

Preferred days and appointments vary for each doctor:Wednesday: Dr. Crick, Dr. Wong, Dr. Melville, Dr. Moult
Monday or Thursday: Dr. Smith
The ante-natal/post-natal appointments are part of the booked surgery for those mornings. Although the above are the preferred days, we are happy to fit ante-natal (10 minute) and post-natal (20 minute) appointments into any of the pre-bookable surgeries if that is more convenient for our patients. None of the doctors provide home confinements. For more information on pregnancy & childcare click here.
Contraception

All the doctors prescribe the pill and the nurses provide regular checks and
advice - when booking for a nurse pill check please state this so we can
have the prescription printed ready for you to pick up when you see the
nurse.
For emergency hormonal contraception (the morning after pill) see Dr. Melville, Dr. Smith or Dr. Moult within 72 hours (Drs Crick & Wong do not issue emergency contraception). EHC is also available from a number of Pharmacies - free - and from Family Planning Clinics (details available from reception or via Conifer House tel: 336336).
If you want advice about a coil (IUCD) or cap, please make an appointment to see Dr. Melville. Coils are fitted by appointment, only. Mirena Coils are only fitted by Family Planning Clinics/Conifer House.
Termination of pregnancy

In the event of an
unplanned
pregnancy, all the doctors offer counselling about the options available to you. If your option is for a
termination of pregnancy, we will arrange for you to attend a Family Planning Clinic for further referral.
Further help available in such a crisis pregnancy can be found if you click here.
Child health and babies

These take place on Tuesday afternoons. Dr Melville carries out development checks (some weeks
between September and June Medical Students
from Hull York Medical School may be present) & our Practice Nurses, Diane and Elaine, give childhood injections
- all by appointment.
Health visitors and School Nurses

Our "named"
Health Visitor is Lorna Barker. She and other Health Visitors carry out health
checks on under fives and offer advice and health to parents. Phone 477752
to contact her; the best times are usually between 8.30-10.30 am or 4.00-5.00
Monday to Thursday, if you have a problem or wish to leave a message. Our "named" School Nurse is Anita Morris who can also be contacted on 477752.
Counselling

We have two part time counsellors, Dawn & Wendy. They are both very experienced counsellors, having worked with
us for a number of years. We will offer you a referral if both you and the doctor feel that this is the best way
to help you deal with your problem. They normally offer a maximum of 6 sessions so are for short focused
intervention rather than long term counselling. Appointments may be at other
GP Surgeries or Primary Care premises. We also have access to
Primary Care Mental Health Workers who are "Listeners" and can help you work
through some problems and issues that may be troubling you; again referral
is through the doctor. Again these appointments may be at other locations. For more information on emotional health issues click here.
District nurses

Sue Robertson, Brenda Jessop and Sally Jessop are our attached District Nurses. They will visit you at home if the doctors or
hospital have arranged this. You can contact them at Orchard Park Health Centre - phone 855247 between 8.30am
and 4.30pm. Sue, who has been with us since 2001, has a special interest is Cancer care in the home. Brenda
joined in September 2005 and Sally in 2007.
Pharmacists

Jackie Everson is our Practice Pharmacy Assistant - she carries out medication reviews with patients so you may
get a phone call from her, or be invited to a review "in person". She also carries our audits of our prescribing
and helps us maintain our good prescribing standards. Philip Booth is our
attached Pharmacist who runs a monthly clinic on a Friday for patients with
high blood pressure, and is a licensed prescriber for a number of medicines
related to blood pressure. Reception can give you more details of his
clinics and whether these would be more suitable for you than seeing a nurse
or healthcare assistant for your next blood pressure check.
