There are many ways to request repeat prescriptions for regular medication. Remember to allow 48 hours
(two full working days) before collecting your prescription from reception after requesting it - or when
informing your Pharmacy that it is ready for collection.
Please specify each item you need as our computer records also contain items you have had as "one off"
prescriptions, and there may also be items you no longer require still on you record. Requesting "all my
repeats" may result in the issue of things you don't need & wastes NHS money (once dispensed by the pharmacist
it cannot be returned/redeemed - it must be destroyed) so "being specific" about exactly what items you need is
important - we issue over 80,000 prescriptions a year so it is not the receptionist "being awkward"
when she asks for more details!
If you are due a review then one of the doctors will review your medical records.
There will often be a standard message (which unfortunately we cannot alter)
saying you need a medication review; this is on the "right hand page" (stub)
of your prescription. It is important that you ask the the receptionists
whether you are due to see the nurse for something rather than just booking
an appointment with the doctor. The receptionist can check on your records for that
information. If no face to face review is required, the doctor may phone you to see if there are any problems with the medication & if
there are no problems the computer can be reset to allow further repeat prescriptions without you needing to
make an appointment to be seen. Sometimes the doctor will re-authorise your repeat items based on what is in
your medical notes without needing to see or speak to you.
Via E-mail or "Systm One ONLINE"

E-mail for repeat prescriptions
only (we regret that we cannot respond to questions etc on
line/by e mail).
Click here to e-mail prescription requests quoting your name and address as well as
details of the items you wish; e mail requests are only checked once a day.
Alternatively if you are
registered for the online service you can view &
order prescriptions through that link. The
online service has the advantage of you being able to see
all your repeat prescription items and order what you need, or send us a
message asking us to
amend them, and asking us if it is possible to add to your list of repeat items things that have previously
been issued as a "one off" (acute) prescription.
Via Telephone

During it's opening hours call 01482 853567. This dedicated phone line is open from 8.30 am to 2.30pm on
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays, and from 8.30am to 1pm on Thursdays. It is closed on Bank Holidays and
when the surgery is closed for training half days (usually the line closes at 12.30pm on such occasions). If
the phone is engaged it is simply because many people prefer this method of requesting their medication and in
addition some requests are complex & take time - so please be patient.
Via Fax

Fax in prescriptions on 01482 855235. As with e mail requests, please quote your name and address as well as
details of the items you wish. The fax machine is not in reception; faxed prescription requests are only brought
to reception once a day.
By hand

Drop in your repeat prescription request at the reception desk at Faith House.
Through your regular pharmacist

Many pharmacies now allow you to order items though them so you simply make one phone call to them, & then
visit the Pharmacy to collect the items. Please remember that if you are due a review that you may be need to
book an appointment before an item is issued and the Pharmacist will not know that when you speak to them.
A new service for those who will not need review for 6 or 12 months is "
Repeat
Dispensing". More details are available from Janet at Faith
House Surgery or from your Pharmacy.
Collecting prescriptions

You can collect them yourself, or ask us to post them to you (please supply stamped self addressed envelopes
for this). Many people now have an arrangement with their usual Pharmacy (Chemist) to collect the prescription.
Please remember to always tell the receptionist if you want it posting or if a Pharmacy is to collect it, and
if so which one, so that this can be clearly marked at the top corner of your prescription. Remember,
prescriptions are available for collection from reception
48 hours (two full working days) after requesting
them.
